We are using MP2006 and MP2011, installed on two different machines. I'd like to open the files created with MP2011 using MP2006.

Does Microsoft offer a compatibility pack or something along those lines in order to make this work? Maybe similar to the compatibility pack available that allows older versions of MS Office to open Office 2007-2010 files?

Sorry no. You'd have to export the data out of MapPoint 2011 into something like Excel and then re-import it into MapPoint 2006. Can you downgrade the one machine to MapPoint 2006 or upgrade the other to 2011?

Let us know how it goes. It might be more cost-effective to downgrade the MP11 to MP06 if you can find someone selling the old version, but MP10/11 did add a *ton* of features including the "Map Settings" tab you might find useful.
