Hello all,
I used to be able to select an area containing pins (mouse pointer) and then right click to add all pins in that square into the route planner. now, every time I click I get the "hand" and it moves the map. i am no longer able to select an area.
how can i activate the selection process with the mouse pointer again?
thanks for "pointers"....

Is it a right-click?

There is a difference between versions, I think between MapPoint 2006 and MapPoint 2009 (and all subsequent versions) the right-click behaves differently.

Could this be the issue?

OK. I'm good. found in help menu, quite simple actually. here goes:
Create a route from a group of pushpins

In the Legend and overview pane, click the name of the pushpin set from which you want to create a route.
- or -
Select an area of the map by doing one of the following:

On the map, right-click and drag a rectangle around the area containing the individual Pushpins you want as stops on your route.
Use the Freeform http://www.mapforums.com/mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20MapPo int%202010\MapPoint.CHM::/ALLFreeform.jpg, Rectangle http://www.mapforums.com/mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20MapPo int%202010\MapPoint.CHM::/ALLRectangle.jpg, Oval http://www.mapforums.com/mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20MapPo int%202010\MapPoint.CHM::/ALLOval.jpg, or Radius http://www.mapforums.com/mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20MapPo int%202010\MapPoint.CHM::/ALLRadius.jpg tools to draw around the pushpins you want as stops on your route, and then select the shape by clicking its border.
Create a drivetime zone of a desired length of time, and then select the zone by clicking its border.
How? (mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20MapP oint%202010\MapPoint.CHM::/ALLCreateDrivetimeZone.htm)

On the Route menu, point to Route, and then click Add pushpins as stops.
On the Route menu, point to Route, and then click Get directions to establish your route on the map and calculate driving directions.
Note If you already have a route on the map, the pushpins are added as new intermediate stops on your route and do not replace the existing start or end points. If you want to make one of the new stops the start or end point of your route, change the order of the stops in the Route planner.
Tip You can have MapPoint reorder the stops so that the travel time between the start and end points on your route is the most time–efficient. Set a start and end point in the Route planner, and then click Optimize stops.
