View Full Version : Selecting Multiple Areas

Hi Guys

I have had a look through here and I can't see anything obvious that would help me with this... I'd be really really grateful.

I have got the hang of drawing circles around pins with a specific miles radius and then exporting the postcode districts within each circle to Excel GREAT.

Trouble is I have 30 circles and I want to "select" them all and then use the data mapping wizard for all circles - the finished result being by Pin name and then a list of post code districts within each. Currently I can only see a way to do this for one circle at a time.

Can you help?

Thanks very much.

Hi Charlie,

Welcome to the forum. How long have you been using MapPoint? What version?

You can write a program or macro to automate MapPoint. I'd recommend Excel VBA as it's probably easiest. There are some simple tutorials to get you started at Working With Excel and MapPoint - MP2K Magazine (http://www.mp2kmag.com/excel) and the MapPoint Help file has a ton of sample code for each method and object.

You'd basically just want to loop over the dataset and use AddShape and then either QueryShape/QueryCircle or ExportToExcel.

Also, I actually have this macro already written if you want to take a stab at using my macro, no guarantees however :-) I'll send you a message.
