I couldn't quite figure out the forum structure, hope this is the right place for questions.

I own a version of mappoint 2011 Europe, I use it for handling data about users to display on different maps.
e.g. I import names and adresses of 1000 users from a CSV file and show it on a shaded area map
or circle.

Now, when I hold my mouse above an area, I'm specifically told '93 users in this region something'
as a tool tip..

I wanna keep that somehow. I want it not only to be displayed as graphics, but with some text aswell, so I can print it, with that text.

second thing, I only use maps on Denmark, which is where I live, and all my users.
In 2006 our Regions and municipalities were radically changed
by the 1 january 2007, the 13 regions of denmark were placed together in 5 regions and a lot of municipalities were packed together in one.

But in mappoint Europe 2011, they still the pre- 2007 ones.. so the regions they divide my users into on the map dont' exist anymore and haven't done so for 5 years
can I update that somehow?

Yes, do you have any suggestions to make it easier?

I think the best thing you can do it import pushpins at the locations where you would like to display the data, and show Name Only. When you import the pushpins, be sure to have your data in the Name field. You can use a 1x1 "invisible" pushpin so just the balloon (name) shows.

It would also be possible to draw labels on the map, but I think Pushpins are easier.

Not really. If you have shape file boundaries (or mid/mif) you can import these and then you would have drawing objects on the map that can be shaded. You can't update or modify the built-in boundaries, so you'd have to work with the drawing objects. There are some tools e.g. MPSuperShape that helps you import GIS boundary files.

hope this helps,
Eric

Erik do you know if there are any plans to update the layout? seeing as its at least 5 years old.. and the product I have is just 1 year old.

anyways I'm not sure I get the pushpin thing still.. I tried marking places as pushpins.
they dont keep details highligted so they would appear on a printout though.

There has been no announcement yet, but if past release history is any clue, there will probably be a new version of MapPoint this year.

Regarding labeling using Pushpins, I should probably do an article on this topic.

Do you have some sample data or maps I could use for the article?

Maybe just make some fake data that is at the same geography level as what you want to map along with a PTM file. Either zip and post here or e-mail to me website - AT - mp2kmag.com
