Can you verify for me whether MapPoint 2010 works with older versions of Excel (up through 2003) for importing data through MapPoints data wizard? Is there some type of add-on that can be obtained or purchased to make it compatible?

My business workgroup wanted to purchase licenses for MapPoint 2010 so that we could use it to record business data.
Unfortunately, our company machines are still using Office 2003 suite because our business correspondence program is dependent upon an add-in that is not compatible with later versions of Microsoft Word -- so our IT department has told us that several of our systems will be designed by 2013 and then we will all be upgraded to the latest Office version, but for now we are stuck with what we have.

However, we really need to use MapPoint now. If compatability can somehow be achieved between these two programs, please let me know how. Thanks.

MapPoint is definitely compatible with Office 2003 formats, no problems.

2003 no problems. I believe it also supports 2000 . Earlier versions of MapPoint supported 97, although I'm not sure if MapPoint 2010 still supports '97.

My own products no longer support Office (i.e. Excel) 2000; but 2003 is most definitely supported. I have to - many of my customers are still using Office 2003 and MapPoint together!

I'm sure it goes back to '97.. in the "Save as type" drop-down you see it implies the '97 to 2003 formats are the same ? As are the 5.0/95 formats.

I would also bet MapPoint supports the 5.0/95 formats but I'd have to test to be sure.
