I work for a company that intends to provide a map driven surveillance application to a customer. This application will allow an operator to "drill down" to a surveillance camera or to previously recorded material. The application will depict various security camera locations in a city. The operator should have some kind of "zooming" capability that will allow them to start with overall city map view and then "drill down" to street level map and then select a live camera feed or its previously recorded material. Does MapPoint have the ability to "hook" into other software, thus providing "hyper-links" into media files or programs that view and control camera acivity?

I have no experience with MapPoint and want to see if it is capable of performing this function.

Please let me know if MapPoint is capable of this. Ask questions if I am not clear.

Yeah, MapPoint is fully programmable, I don't think it you will have a problem hooking it into other software -- as long as that is also programmable.

There are some restrictions regarding large-scale fleet tracking, but otherwise I think you should be OK.

Thanks for your help. Is MapPoint software that can be taken lightly, or does it require knowledgable personnel to operate and configure in the way I had described?

Additionally, what programming languages would be necessary to fullfill the desired result?
