I'm new to using MapPoint. I'm importing records from an Access DB. During the import process, is their anyway to assign different pushpins based on selected criteria?

Are you using the Import Data Wizard? After the import, you can select the Multiple Symbol map. In the next screens you can then specify the variable and ranges (as well as the symbols and descriptions for the legend).

If you need more than eight ranges you can break up your dataset into multiple tables or queries first.

You can also assign specific symbols (or custom symbols) to each record based on arbitrary criteria using a macro.

Does this help?

Thanks for the reply!!

I'm using to linking wizard to link to an MS Access database that contains about 10000 pushpins. I found it easy to create two tables within Access, then when I link, use different colored pins for each table. It meets my needs.

I'll test your recommendation.

I've noticed that you reply to a lot of the threads on this forum. What's the best source of information regarding having Access work seamlessly with MapPoint"

Although it doesn't deal with Access at all, I would recommend to get a copy of Programming MapPoint in .NET just for the decent overview of MapPoint programming topics.

There are some Access examples in the article on MP2Kmag.com, see MapPoint Articles - MP2K Magazine (http://www.mp2kmag.com/articles.asp)

You can also search this forum for discussions about Access and MapPoint --

Hope this helps!
