Can you modify a map on a web page?

Hi Everyone.

I'm wondering if there's anyway to allow a user to dynamically interact with a map on the web page.

For example, I would display a map on a web page, the user would then draw a rectangle around a certain area on the map, I would then obtain the coordinates of the rectangle and display all the locations I have in my DB that fall in those coordinates. I'm not quite sure if Mappoint integrates something on the front end to allow the user to interact with the map (very similary to the way the desktop API works). I am trying to avoid writing messy javascript for it.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Sure you can, it's called MapPoint web service.

Or if you want to do more then put a few points on a map and get driving directions, you will need to look at getting your own map server.

I understand the mappoint web service, what I m after is the ability to "draw" on the image/map, not get the map from a web service or map server. I want to do some simple interacting on a image/map, to allow users to better define an area they are interested in. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
