Mappoint 2004 & Office 2003 compatibility problem

I have already installed Mappoint 2004 europe on a machine with Office 2003 and everything works fine except when I try to link data from excel o access files that when I select the xls or mdb file appears a window saying just "Problem opening file xxxx.xls"

I check on Tools , COM addings and there's nothing there. Then I try to reinstall the COM as said on the help file ( you know looking for the MPOAI9.dll ) but nothings happens. Then I look at the help file and it says that the COM objetc only works with Office 2002 & 2000.

¿Any help, ideas?

I'm having the same problem Javier is having. MapPoint 2004 was working just great for me until I upgraded to Office 2003. I can no longer link or add data. I get the same error message "Problem opening file . . . " It is the same error message whether I use my files created new with Excel or the sample files which come with the MapPoint 2004 CD. I've tried making tab, text, and csv files all to no avail.

the problem with mappoint 2004 linking dissapeared from my computer on the same strange way it appeared.

Now it works fine and I did not nothing to correct it. My advise would be do the following steps:

- Update Windows with the latest updates
- Update Office 2000 with the latest updates
- Try to update the last ADO and MDO drivers
- Try to downlad the .net framework drivers.

I did all the steps above, and one of them fixed the problem, but I don't know wich one ...
