I am sure I read a post somewhere about how to create a territory map in mappoint and then export the data to excel so you had a list of english counties as defined by mappoibt in an excel spread sheet - but searches cannot find it.

Can anyone help. I know I had to start with creating a series of territories based on country names but after that I am stuck

Use the territory manager.
Select Counties then select the whole country and Add To Territory to make the whole country one territory, then select the normal legend tool to create the territories

Now you can export to excell and you will have your list of counties

I'm trying to do the same thing but I'm afraid I don't understand your suggestions. I can select the whole country to create a territory, but I'm not sure what "select the normal legend tool to create the territories" means - I can create more territories for each county (though this is a bit laborious and it would just be quicker to type in a list of Counties to Excel! However I'd like to be able to use it for postal sectors etc) but if I then go to Data > Export to Excel, the option isn't available. Am I being stupid?

Thanks

Once you have created your territory of the whole country you then need to go to View - Legend and Overview before you can export the data
