This TIP is based on this thread from last month --

We will go through the steps to make this map...

First -- change the Map Style from "Road and Data Map" to just "Data Map". There is a drop-down to do this in the "Advanced" toolbar.

An alternate way to get to this is to go to Tools | Options | Map.

Second -- open the Map Settings pane. In MapPoint 2013, this look like a Gear icon.

You can also go to View | Panes | Map Settings or hit Control-Shift-M.

Change the check-boxes so they match the screenshot below.

Playing with Map Settings is by far the most satisfying step for me when preparing maps to share (e.g. PowerPoint or reports).

I still can't believe Map Settings was only first introduced with MapPoint 2010? What did people before then? lol

Map Settings was a huge new feature for MapPoint.
