View Full Version : Filtering Push-Pins

I am trying to map out my company's competitors in a region. I have compiled an excel workbook that lists our competitors by supplier, name, street location, city, state, zip, and the product they stock from their supplier. Each competitor has their own worksheet in the workbook. I have imported my data by using the Link option which seems to be the best way so updating is easy.

My end goal for this project it to be able to have our locations up and compare it to our compeitors one by one. I cannot find any option in MapPoint that lets me do so. If someone knows how to please let me know. After reading some other threads it seems that I might need to layer the data sets over each other one by one.

Hello Hayden,

Welcome to the forums! I hope we can help.

Have you imported the competitor's worksheets into separate datasets (or did you combine all the worksheets and import once into a single dataset) ?

If you have separate datasets, you can right click on the dataset or layer name on the Legend and select Hide.

Does this accomplish what you want or am I not understanding?

I think I have done them in individual data sets. When I use the "import link wizard data set" it gives me the option to select each tab of the workbook iindividually however it is under a collapsible option "Sheets"...so does that mean that "Sheets" is the data set, or are the individual tabs thier own data set?

What does the Legend look like? Is is there that you would turn the layers On/Off.

There are 6 expandable and collapsible items. Under each item is the pushpin I have selected, followed by black line. There is not an on/off option that I can tell. Is there somewhere I should look for that option specificly?

I have tried right clicking on each pushpin, going into settings, and have had no luck. Thank you for all of your help so far!

If you right-click on the name of the layer on the Legend, do you see the Hide Pushpin Set option?

What version of MapPoint are you using? They may have added this feature with MapPoint 2009 or MapPoint 2010?

Thank you for your input. I made an error in importing the data...kind of a bonehead mistake and I fixed the problem. Thanks again for your help! :D
