Dear all,

I am completely new to MS MapPoint 2011 and trying to figure out how it works, but have some troubles with some functions.

I have some data for Poland (and similar for the UK) which I tried to map. My database contains three columns: Street, City, Postcode. I am aware that MapPoint 2011 does not support postcodes for Poland.

The result of mapping both databases (for Poland and the UK) is a country map completely covered with pins where it is impossible to see the names of the cities without zooming-in. I would like to create a pin set/ density map / concentration map of postcodes within particular radius using "Sized circles" in order to show how many times particular city is registered in our database (the more times a name of the city repeated in a database, the bigger the circle, the bigger the number of clients attributed to that city).

Is it possible to achieve with MapPoint? I hope this question does not sound too rookie :)

P.S. - every time I am trying to use "Sized circle" I get an error saying that my data contains location data only and therefore only pins can be used....

Welcome to the forums and I hope we can help!

Can you put together some sample data and post? Then I could post some step by step instructions and the resulting map.

I think the best thing to do would be to first group the data in Excel so that you have something like this:

City, Country, Count
Krakow, Poland, 75
...

Then it should be straightforward to import this data into MapPoint and create sized circles.

Hope this helps!
Eric

Dear Eric,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have three columns of data which are pretty much organized, even through about 30% are not identified by MapPoint. Columns are as following:

Street City Postcode

Streets and Postcodes for Poland are yet to be recognized by MapPoint, but I tried to use Data Mapping Wizzard using City names only. It created the map on the right, while I would like to have the one similar to the map on the left, but just can't figure out how to do it. The problem that only pins and not Sized Circles can be used still remains...

I would recommend to Group your data in Excel first, so you only have one line per city, and a count next to it in a separate column, something like:

City, Country, Count
Krakow, Poland, 75
...

What is your purpose in here dredging up old posts? This was particularly annoying as you're not even attempting or only barely pretending to add value.

Consider this Strike Two as this is the second time I am posting about your curious "semi-participation" in the forums and there was no response to my first post.
