Geocoding software/engine?

Hi,

I need to find some software or a program that I can use to geocode some addresses (some will have just a zip). Is there anything like this? I have searched around the internet and have seen some web solutions, but we need to have some sort of program/application that we can pass an address/zip to and get the Lat. and Lon. returned.

Thanks!

DeniseB,

I'd recommend MapPoint 2004 + the Pushpin Tool.. although it is not positioned as a robust geocoding tool, it's quick, cheap and works.

If you need even more immediate geocoding needs such as in the next 60 minutes and have a credit card, I used to use an old Etak service called EZLocate that I found to be terrific.. I think TeleAtlas NA which acquired Etak still runs this service..

Hmmmm....I didn't think that MapPoint would be able to perform this type of operation. What I need to do is feed into some geocoding engine the address/zip and have it return the Lat. and Lon. If I used MapPoint 2004 as you suggest, would I have to perform all of this geocoding manually? I would prefer to have some sort of function that I could call (DLL or EXE) that would perform this type of operation.

Thanks

Yes, the Pushpin Tool can do "batch" geocoding, you would not have to do each one manually / individually..
