Is Multiple route planning possible.

Hi,

I searched but couldn't find the answer to this question, so thought I would post. I'm thinking of purchasing mappoint but would like to know if it can do what we need it to do.

I know it is possible to optimize a particular route where the starting point is known. (ie. travelling salesman would like to optimize route)

However, we pay our sales reps by distance travelled and have multiple reps visiting multiple stores acroos the country.

If we have multiple sales reps, can I use mappoint to tell me which sales reps would have the shortest routes in a specific territory. Ideally, I would like to automate this so that for each geographic area mappoint tells me which sales people should visit which stores.

Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I have developed a (free) solution for tour-administration based on MapPoint, so that I can compare the kilometers of different tours. If you are interested you can send me an email.

There are companies the specialize in this. Try www.intergis.com. They use MapPoint for the driving directions.

When I used to spend hours per day riding the bus, I dreamed up a network of vans travelling semi-flexible routes in the city. They would pick people up at their houses, and drop them off at their destination, with minimal transfers. It would be a logistical compromise between taxis and buses.

I would like to check out your solution, Rainer. Thanks.

Barthels,
Let me thank you for the effort you have put in the VRP.
I downloaded your tool routing software(VRP). Since currently MSDE is unavailable, I downloaded the free version SQL express. Does this work with your code. Also if it works , when i start VRP i am having connection issues with the SQL express server. How do i configure the SQL connections in this software. Thank you very much for the help and keep up the good work.

Thanks
