Lo all,
the boss has asked me to examine the feasability of writing a program for a client he has in Nigeria, but I can't seem to find any mapping for it, does anyone know of anything programmable along the lines of Mappoint that coves Nigeria?
Cheers

I doubt there's anything like MapPoint 2004 for Nigeria.. but there's probably raw GIS data available you could put into a GIS program and use as a development platform.. MapInfo professional is ideal for this, you might find Manifold or Caliper's GIS software more affordable. In either case, the data itself (depending on the level of detail you need) may be far and away the most expensive.
There's a few International data vendors I'd recommend though I don't know if they will have African data:
Lead Dog Consulting in Anchorage
GeoScape
You might also try with MapInfo themselves, they have a vast network of partners and might refer you to a MapInfo partner in Africa.
good luck!
Eric
