mappoing install headache

I get this error when trying to install Mappoint either from the CD's or a folder I copied both CD's too, on my Desktop and have done a network administrative install [setup.exe /a] and then ran setup from the network share I installed it to .....but get the same error over and over and over ...... any ideas ... I have all ready tried everything in this thread -> http://www.mp2kmag.com/mappoint/discussion/viewtopic.asp?t=4252

I even tried my duplicate and OG cd's of mappoint 2002 and same problem ... please any help, got to have this installed by end of the day...

for info purposes, IMB thinkpad, XP Professional SP 1, Office 2003 and nothing else........ installed..... well norton, but thats disabled untill I get this to install and work......

OP's my bad forgot the error.... MS is making me almost go POSTAL

ERROR -->

you cannot install mappoint over a network unless you perform a network installation..........

Try running the network installation from the CDs (or iso images)... don't copy the files first.

The process to perform an Admin install from an MSI is a complicated process in that you need to run the "MSIEXEC /A" from your workstations' local hard drive or CD-ROM drive and perform the install up to an actual mapped drive or the \\servername\share\ folder. Not sure why, but Microsoft actually has the logic in the MSI engine to make it work this way. If you copy the install files up to the server, then run the "MSIEXEC /A" command and point to another folder on the same server it will still fail. The admin install MUST go from workstation to server. Fun, huh?
