first time use - mp04 and excel

Ok - I got MapPoint at work to do a much better job mapping sales territories and data. I've discovered that MapPoint is nothing more than a map-centric data server and that I have to program any smarts. Not a problem - just a surprise...

I have my sales territories all mapped and saved to a file.

I have a dealer base all mapped and saved to a seperate file.

I have an excel report that shows MTD shipped, written, quota, and various performance metrics based on all of the above.

I would like to start integrating all this.

First - I want to use a pivot table to select a specific territory. Then ONLY that territory is shown. Within that territory, via the pivot table, I want to show SHIPPED or WRITTEN based on dealer (available from pivot by customer number and territory fields). As I get the hang of this, I'd like to bring more data sets like competitor dealer locators and the such.

I've poked around here and there's some good information. What I *think* I need is a functional block of code that does what I describe with real good comments. I can then start hacking and tweaking that code to work for me. Right?

Help?

I think there are several guys active in this board that would be eager to help. I've only had one client specifically ask for the code, but for all the custom projects I've delivered, all code is included, and I always offer extra "training" to explain the code..

I'm kinda busy and to be honest I'm not 100% comfortable with the power of pivot tables.. (I just started poking around at the D functions in Excel recently --- I'm really an Access guy). However if someone doesn't take you up on the request, I promise not to charge you for any time I spend learning advanced Excel functionality. Send me a PM.

Eric
