When I run my compiled app, on another machine, I get a Run-time error '16395'

"The file you chose is not a MapPoint 2004 file."

Any Ideas?

hi,

you should make some logging in your prgram, or at least the errors it produce. without that it is difficult to advice

Okay, I thought about it before I posted..

I believe my problems are in my deployment.

How can a VB6 app that uses the MapPoint control and a custom .ptm be deployed to people without MapPoint.

You can't!

It is covered in the EULA, but every user of the OCX (ie. MapPoint control) must have a MapPoint license.

Even if this wasn't the case, distributing the OCX and other necessary files would be difficult. MapPoint includes some large files!

Eveyone who views my app has to spend 200 bucks on MapPoint!

So then mappoint is only good for making jpgs then?

Wow, I guess I only have myself to blame, I should have read the box better before I spent the money.

You are mainly paying for the data.. you can find royalty-free GIS development tools, but they will no data or only gov't/free data.
