map in C#

i want to map ove value to another value..ie i am getting one value as input and i want other value as output............

well the thing is : in my code i am getting some user defined datatypes like say character array char[], now i want to write a code which maps these datatypes to SQL datatypes say in this case strings..... there r no of these datatypes which are required to map to SQL datatype and i will take this SQL datatype as the Output
