getting road types from out of a street

Hi,

I have following problem:

I need to know the kind of road a particlar position is. I can get road name from lat / long, but I need to know if it is a HighWay / OtherHighway / ... road.

Someone can advice if this is possible ?

Sorry I dont know eahter :(
I'm joking of course, but I just came to the idea if it was maybe possible to get it from out a route calculate. but this also seems to have no properties to get it.

Not possible to read the mappoint databases ? witch format they have ? how to read them ? The information is there so it must be some way to get it out of it, eahter with mappoint or eather with reading / parsing the databases myself. Some idea ?
