Pasting a Mappoint Legend into MS Word 2003

Does anyone know why my Mappoint legend looses its color scale when it is pasted into MS Word 2003? The squares remain, but they do not show the colors that are supposed to be associated with data. This never happened until I upgraded to Word 2003.
