Here's the lowdown. I had VB6 installed on a win98SE OS...i upgraded to Windows XP Home. Now when i try to run visual basic, i get a "unexpected error; quitting" message. I have tried this article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;189472&Product=vbb
and i have those DLL files in the correct location and it does not help my problem. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!

First you can try to install the latest service pack for VB6

You can also try to uninstall then re-install VB.

It works fine under XP so one of the two should work.

I guess if all this does not work you could do a fresh install of XP, maybe there are issues because it was upgraded from 9x?

I d/l the service pack 6 for VB but it does not install. The setup loads the usual service agreement which you have to agree to, then it says it did not install and shuts down. I can't reinstall VB because my disk is too scratched, i tried before, so i'm trying to find options so i don't have to repurchase VB again. Thanks.
