We generate web based maps for our company intranet and would help if user could see a name rather than geography reference on a mouse over. The most simple way to control the URL that is used would be to create a hyperlink field in the data being imported into MapPoint. Then set the "HyperlinkField" property to the dataset field containing the hyperlink url. See the VB help for the "HyperlinkField" property. This can also be accessed through the UI by right-clicking on the pushpin set, and selecting "Properties".
