Getting the speed limit at a particular coordinate

Greetings,

I have a stream of GPS locations, with travel speed, coming in from a handful of drivers, but would like to know the posted speed on the road they are on.

Does anyone know how to get the road information associated with a coordinate, such that I can get the posted speed on that particular stretch of road?

PS I use C#, but could convert from VB.

I may be wrong about this and perhaps someone else can confirm it but i'm not sure that Mappoint actually contains the speedlimit of every road. I think i'm right in saying that it has avarage speed for certain types of road (highway, street etc...) but not an actual speed limit.

That is my understanding as well. MapPoint has the type of the roads but not the actual speed limit.

I believe I have have heard that the data provider captures this for the Guidance systems. You might try contacting Navteq to see if they have something that is in your budget.
