Help: How to design for Europe. Currently using UK postcodes

We have Mappoint 2004 sales system using UK postcodes.

We need to expand the sales system to include rest of Europe.

Doing preliminary research, I have discovered that

a) There are no postcodes available for some European countries
b) Postcodes are available for some countries but are unreliable
c) Longitude/Latitude is best solution in mapping a pushpin

My questions are

a) What is the best way we can expand our current system to include Europe
b) Is there a document listing Longitude/Latitudes for European countries/towns/roads etc.
c) Does Mappoint return Longitude/Latitude as well postal sector when an address is supplied using objmap.FindAddressResults?

For question (c), MapPoint currently only returns a longitude/latitude coordinate for a location if that location was located with a longitude/latitude coordinate!

Luckily, it is possible to calculate a coordinate using a bit of geometry. Search the Articles section of this website for a routine called "CalcPos" by Gilles Kohl.

Also, I hear that MapPoint 2006 has better Longitude,Latitude support although I don't know the details yet...
