View Full Version : mission impossible? veicle tracking highway problem

hi all i am developping a veicle tracking application using mappoint 2006 europe

i have the GPS position of the veicle every 3 minutes and i have to design the route for this.

And here the big problem:

when a position is on an highway the route is errored because the mappoint engine make you exit and re-enter the highway...creating impossible route....

has anyone had this problem? is there a solution ?

You cannot show a route that you not know, unless you have every few seconds a position. For example if vehicle drive in a city with 3 minuts interception point there are probably 5 routes to go from point 1 to point 2, so a routeplanner cannot know exacly what the route is.

On a highway it becaume more difficult. As GPS position is not always accurate the vehicle's position can be sometimes on the other side of the highway. If you use routeplanner then it will go off the highway and go back on to drive the other direction.

So only and best solutions is to connect each position with an arrow.

thanks a lot

i have already tried the solution of arrowed lines and it isn't so bad but i hope it will be possible to make something better...

for istance I would try to correct the GPS positions in order to avoid exit and re-enter in the highway but i think this is to complex...

but for the line arrowed do you know where i can find a list of the int value for the myLine.Line.ForeColor= (int values i don't find)

best regards

Color is integer value. Hi order byte is not used. 3 lower order bytes are Blue / Green / Red

0x00FF0000 Blue
0x0000FF00 Green
0x000000FF Red

now you can mix all color you want :)

I Have the same problem here...I tried to connect all the locations with arrows but it is very slow...How to acelerate the process?

You could add the arrows at the same time you add the pushpins, this will not accelerate but it will look as it go faster.
