Optimizing Problem

We use MapPoint to optimize about 10 routes daily. The routes each contain from 50-70 stops plus a start and end point. The locations are imported using Lat & Lon. Ocasionally (rarely) the folling error appears and the route cannot be optimized:

"Unable to get directions from (location1) to (location2). One of the areas may not contain necessary connectors such as ferry routes or main roads. Move one or both of the stops, and try again."

This error occurs both in MP 2004 and MP 2006, but not on the same route. Moving or deleting one or both of the stops does not usually correct the problem; and after a deletion the error will usually appear with different locations listed.

There does not appear to be any way to trap this error, or indeed to find out what the problem really is. The same stops added to a different route may process properly. And, clicking the 'Get Directions' button usually works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you ever get a solution to this problem? I am having the same thing to me for a route in Wyoming...

Not really ... I try to locate the offending location by a process of elimination and move the point slightly ... it usually appears to be on a boulevard or one-way street, but not always ...
