Application cannot call MP

Hi,
I am not a programmer, so I am hoping someone out there might be able to help me.
I have a GPS program that uses MP. Both programs are installed via the network using a program called managesoft. The GPS application can call MP correctly on some machines, but on other machines it appears that the application cannot call MP. I am pulling my hair out because the IT section says the only way around the problem is to format each machine that displays this problem and restart; this could be about 200 machines.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried mapppoint.exe/ regserver

It's very difficult to answer your question without an in-depth understanding of the environment of the "failing" machines. I assume that you created an administrative installation of MapPoint, and then used MangeSoft to deploy the installation to your machines.

The situation you're describing seems likely to be an issue with registry access on the affected machines, perhaps more on the user-rights side.

You might try uninstalling mappoint on an affected machine, then rebooting and logging in as an administrative user before re-deploying the installation. It might be a good idea to reinstall MDAC components also.

Hi,

Are the failing machines of specific brand / type / memory / other ?

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for the responses.

MP was install via Managesoft with administrative permissions. I have tried to log in as an administrator to run the program, but then MP will not run on the affect computer; it will only run as the user.

The problem doesn't seem to follow a particular type of computer or configuration...

Thanks Again.

Joe
