Exporting the whole database

I was disappointed when I became familiar enough with Streets and Trips that one could import a spreadsheet but not export it, but, what they heck, it's supposed to be an end user tool, and forums I read at the time said that MapPoint gave that to you. Not wanting to see Microsoft's cash flow run dry because of my niggardlyness, I saved up my sheckels and got MapPoint 2006. Guess what? It exports the pins alright, but it doesn't export the most important items - the lat/lon of the pin. This is a mapping tool, right? Maps are all about positions, and MapPoint can't be bothered to export the positions?

Oh, but there's this other tool done by a third party, PushPins, and it exports the lat/lon. OK, so I download the trial and try it out, and I get the lat/lon, but nothing else. None of the data that MapPoint itself exports. Furthermore, the lists don't coincide (at least, the five points that the crippled trial software would allow me to extract didn't coincide in Excel row number with the MapPoint export). So, why is it that no one can do a simple, all-data export of the push pins? Am I missing something here? I build 3rd party plug-ins for a living, and if I had that as a hole in the primary software, you damned-betcha I'd fill it.

So, does anyone know any way to export the whole nine yards: the latitude, longitude, name field, address fields and description field in rows on a spreadsheet (or even in a text file)? Maybe even a unique row number? Again, am I missing something here?

Sorry that Pushpin Tool didn't work for you but I am working on an update to the tool and hope to have it out soon. However the current version should export all of the fields along with additional Lat/Long. Pushpin Tool will export to a text file but only if it can not find excel. The new version gives you a choice.

OK, I'll try it again this evening. If you say it should export the whole database, then I must be doing something wrong. What will the update do, since the current version should solve my problem? I do have Excel XP, and it does seem to find it ok.

Not sure what you mean by 'whole database' but It will export pushpins and if you imported data with them it will export those fiels/data as well. If you still have problems you can send me a sample map if you like and I can see if I can help.
