Quick Question about Distances in MapPoint

I was just curious if it is possible to take an excel file with City, State, and Zip Code data and then import it into MapPoint and find distances from a 'parent' location to each of the other locations in the excel file. I need to do this for a large amount of data so if it is possible to do this it would be a ton of help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Are you talking about custom programming wiht MP ? In that case: yes easy to do. If you talking about the standalone MP executable then I dont know, someone must drop in here..

How hard is it to do with custom programming in MP and how did you learn how to do it? If it can be done with the stand alone executable, that would sufficient also.

Hi,

Custom programming is not in MP itself. If you have programming development tools then you can program with MP. So it is not the same as Access, Excell, Word and so witch comes with a VBA thing that you can program in.

But if you can program in some language (C#, Delphi, VB, ...) then you can do all in MP in your program.

Hope I make sence (English is not my mothers tongue).

I like to do ad hoc MapPoint programming with Excel, see examples on how to get started at
