<p>A bunch of new 3D cities were published yesterday and many received a facelift. In Arizona Phoenix, Tucson, Tempe, Mesa, Avondale, Gilbert, Peoria, and Glendale are all included. Other US cities include Augusta GA, Denver CO, Nashville TN, Chicago IL, Fort Worth TX, and Coral Springs FL, as well as Edmonton in Canada. Chicago really stands out for breadth and depth. Here's a video I made of some landmarks around the city - <div style="padding-right:0px;display:inline;padding-left:0px;padding-bottom:0px;margin:0px;padding-top:0px"><div><embed src="http://images.soapbox.msn.com/flash/soapbox1_1.swf" quality=high width=432 height=364 wmode=transparent type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="c=v&v=d86b8fab-1de8-468b-9a94-e85bd58a0365&from=writer" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" allowscriptaccess=never allownetworking=internal></div></div> <p>The Digital Urban blog has been creating some nice video fly-throughs in Virtual Earth when new cities are released [<a href="http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/2007/08/3d-toulouse-movie-virtual-earth.html" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/2007/08/montreal-in-virtual-earth-movie.html" target="_blank">here</a>, <a href="http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/2007/05/digital-new-york-movie-virtual-earth.html" target="_blank">here</a>]. They have some tips <a href="http://digitalurban.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-create-engaging-movies-from.html" target="_blank">in this tutorial</a> on how to create your own. I also use FRAPS to record my videos and rely on a USB XBOX controller to navigate. If you can write some javascript, you can go beyond the limits of what is possible with the XBOX controller or 3D Navigator and script custom paths that would be impossible to create otherwise! The 3D render engine of Virtual Earth is fronted with a simple Javascript API making it easy to script flights and other actions. learn how in the <a href="http://dev.live.com/virtualearth/sdk/" target="_blank">VE SDK</a>. <p> <div style="padding-right:0px;display:inline;padding-left:0px;padding-bottom:0px;margin:0px;padding-top:0px">Technorati tags: <a href="http://technorati.com/tags/virtual earth" rel=tag>virtual earth</a>, <a href="http://technorati.com/tags/virtual worlds" rel=tag>virtual worlds</a></div><img src="http://c.services.spaces.live.com/CollectionWebService/c.gif?cid=3151506992847969176&page=RSS%3a+New+3D+cities+in+Virtual+Earth.+Chicag o+looks+great!&referrer=" width="1px" height="1px" border="0" alt=""><img style="position:absolute" alt="" width="0px" height="0px" src="http://c.live.com/c.gif?NC=31263&NA=1149&PI=88469&RF=&DI=3919&PS=85545&TP=virtualearth.spaces.live.com&GT1=virtualearth">

Very cool! You didn't quite hit Navy Pier (were the lat/lon's programmed?) but close enough.
