.NET Add-in Problems?

Has anyone had any .NET add-in problems recently?

I'm working with VS2005, C#, .NET 2, MP2006.

Having trouble, I went "back to basics" and tried the walkthrough for setting up an add-in in Thota's "Programming MapPoint in .NET". This works fine on my dev PC - VS installs the package okay. However, the resulting MSI does not work on a different PC (clean XP or Vista installations) The package contents are installed and the registry settings look okay. However MP disables the add-in - it does not recognise it as a valid add in.

This and some circumstantial evidence suggests a Microsoft Update might have broken things...?

Has anyone seen anything like this? Or think of what might be wrong?

I've a clean build VPC sitting at work that's bang up to date, plus my first add-in code complete and almost ready to go to my users. I'll check this out tomorrow morning.

Incidentally, I'm not familiar with the book you mention, but if you're using VS2005, when you create the new project, are you using the Other Project Types -> Extensibility -> Shared Add-in template ?

Yes I was using that template.

I'm now attempting to use "ADX" (Add-in Express .NET), but I'm waiting for their support to get back to me. The documentation is written from a modern MS-Office perspective (as are the examples), which doesn't help when MapPoint only has one kind of modifiable menu that doesn't appear to be referred to in the docs.

No dice at my end either. Installation works fine, it's listed in the COM objects, but fails to register without any kind of error message.
