<p>Here's <a href="http://www.palmbeachpost.com/" target="_blank">a great review</a> of <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/virtualearth/industry/government.aspx" target="_blank">Virtual Earth</a>, in particular the geocoding accuracy by William Harnett, Online Innovations Editor at the <a href="http://www.palmbeachpost.com/" target="_blank">Palm Beach Post</a>. In the article, Mr. Hartnett demonstrates not only a terrific sense of humor, but also that the Virtual Earth geocoder is vastly superior to that of our competitor that, as usual, shall remain nameless on this blog but begins with "G" and ends with "oogle." <p>Mr. Hartnett compares the geocoders of the two mapping offerings and offers the following results: <p>"In the head-to-head, closest to the pin contest, Microsoft’s geocoder beat Google’s in 341 of 400 cases, with four ties. That’s an 85.25 percent winning percentage for Virtual Earth, people." <p>I am lifting his screenshots and providing here but I encourage you to <a href="http://www.wmhartnett.com/2008/01/15/google-maps-vs-virtual-earth-a-geocoding-accuracy-showdown-in-west-palm-beach/" target="_blank">take a look at his review</a>. It's a good read. <p><a href="http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/y1pyJQc6Yo2cX7d_Rg6gIK-AAzwgaNoTrnhqOxl1zbxUJYcT_7JBIkkYaSgs86XDVJfdS0hI9 bPpv4?PARTNER=WRITER">http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/y1pyJQc6Yo2cX6nw0wXkyjpqc7UTqkeCvNsLiovewUuLxvue1y Sm4lYk_HsJmN-VBGhVX0GAX2qqAg?PARTNER=WRITER</a> <p><a href="http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/y1pyJQc6Yo2cX42jKAVspm0HQuLO2VVSUCR3eYbAK4M4VBV-KjMjpY_ugGA024LyX4kJKWKZFZcuc8?PARTNER=WRITER">http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/y1pyJQc6Yo2cX4xonuIsbpWpKffIvLxwL8D_z8eH0Tlp8Hp8ni 6OYR7w0XMOko2f0jx1R3FooDmf_I?PARTNER=WRITER</a><img src="http://c.services.spaces.live.com/CollectionWebService/c.gif?cid=3934802439182364865&page=RSS%3a+Virtual+Earth+Geocoding+Accuracy+Put+t o+the+Test&referrer=" width="1px" height="1px" border="0" alt=""><img style="position:absolute" alt="" width="0px" height="0px" src="http://c.live.com/c.gif?NC=31263&NA=1149&PI=73329&RF=&DI=3919&PS=85545&TP=virtualearth4gov.spaces.live.com&GT1=virtualearth4gov">
