Hello -
I have done a few searches and cannot locate an answer - if it has already been posted, I apologize.
I use MapPoint 2006 and have several routes already in place (upgraded from MP2004). The problem is, all of the stops on these routes are only listed as the address:

What I need is instead of it saying "1455 Howell Ave, etc" I want it to say "Brooksville Nursing Home" or whatever text I choose. Is there an easy way to do this from MapPoint 2006? It seems like there should be a simple "Rename" feature but I cannot seem to locate it. Thanks for any help!

Hi Scott,
I wonder ... if you show the Legend and Overview (CTRL+G)
and right-click on your dataset to show properties and choose
the balloon tab -> is the a field in there that isn't checked
which could be the name?
If not, you could export the whole dataset to Excel, add the
column Name, and then re-import to a new map.

Thanks for the reply Mike.
I am not sure what you mean by the "dataset". I see one thing that says "Data Set Properties" but it is ghosted. So is "Export to Excel" (see below).
I think I need to be in some kind of different mode to be able to export. And when I am in that mode, I can probably look at the Dataset properties also.

Hi,
Try going to the View menu and choosing Legend and Overview.
There you'll see the datasets you're using.

I must be missing something - viewing Legends and Overview takes me to this screen, but Data Set and Export are still ghosted -

On the Legend and Overview Pane are the datasets,
such as 'My PushPins.' Right-click on the icon and you'll
see the context menu where you can select Properties.
I can't type worth beans.

As it turns out, there were no pushpins on this map at all!
The stops were simply typed into the Find dialog box and
added to a route and the map was saved. I found this to be
rather unusual, so I wrote a COM Addin to solve the problem:
It can be downloaded here:
www.mattysconsulting.com/demos/rt2xl.dll
It doesn't do anything for maps with pushpins.
I hope anyone who needs such a thing will find it useful
