Just an FYi..

The forum is currently partially upgraded... the forum software base is now vBulletin 3.7 with all the new features listed above, but I have not installed the new compatible add-ins nor installed the 3.7 compatible "skin" so some functionality may be broken. However, the forum appears to be working... if anything is broken right now it is probably related to the new features.

You may notice some odd behaviour on the forum during the next 15 minutes or so while I update the "skin"..

It should be updated and working now.. let me know if you see any problems.
Thanks!

Eric, something went terribly wrong with your upgrade. I cannot read the forum, neither can I post. Can you fix it?

Mike: You hope I can't fix it? hehe

Marvin: you posted and you apparently read my post, were you just wanting to rattle me? :-)

Funny :7m: :18m:

Anyway, let me know really if you see anything broken.. the only real change I know I know about is the way the "subforums" are listed on the home page... I decided it didn't bother me as much as I thought it did originally... I think it's fine.

Mike, I knew Eric wouldn't take me seriously anyway, so I didn't mind posting the bug report :D

Eric, I looked around and I couldn't find any problems. The sub-forums thing I didn't even notice. You could ask the guys at vB forum.

Good work!

You guys know this forum has always been garbage

>>The sub-forums thing I didn't even notice. You could ask the guys at vB forum.<<

It looks fine to me now.. I know it was a couple or few template modifications.... I figure fewer modifications the better to reduce work when upgrading in the future.

I enjoyed reading the thread you linked. Some forum owners/admins/mods would be just too quick to delete what they would perceive as an insulting posting. However, your reply is an excellent example how such postings should be answered.

Took me a few glances to figure out how you made a post if you couldn't make a post- musta been haveing my eyes burned out by the monitor again... then I caught on.

I think the forum upgrade is complete! Though I do want to install the Welcome Headers plug-in ( Welcome headers - Improve community registration rates - vBulletin.org Forum (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=119572) ). Marvin suggested it a month and a half ago but I wanted to wait until after this latest round of upgrades was complete.

Installed so far:
vBulletin 3.7 Gold
vBSEO 3.2 RC5
vBSEO Style 1.0 for 3.7 Gold and various template modifications
vBulletin Blog 1.0.5 (from 1.0.0)

Hopefully this will keep it going for a while :1eye:

Besides the welcome headers, I also want to Introduce and bring attention to the still relatively new Blogs section with a section link on the home page.

By the way, I noticed the Smileys no longer appear randomly, it is a fixed set. I think the bunch that always show up now are not bad so I'll leave it the way it is unless someone objects. Of course you can still get to the rest of the smileys by clicking on the More link.

Eric, you may want to wait a bit with the Welcome Headers add-on. Accidentally I noticed this add-on stopped working on my forum. I never view my forum as a Guest, so I never noticed any problem earlier. The issue may be related to my upgrade to vB 3.7.0, but it may also be related to vBadvanced or something else.

I uninstalled and reinstalled my existing version of Welcome Headers without success. Then I discovered there was a new version 5.xx of Welcome Headers, but that didn't solve my problem. At the end I found out that vB 3.7.0 has it's own feature, called "Notices", which accomplishes the same (and more), but still I'm not able to use the feature properly. It is supposed to display the notices (Welcome Headers) on every page - but in my case I only can view it on my home page.

Eric, my suggestion would be to try to use the built-in "Notices" feature, rather than installing an add-on. Access the feature in your AdminCP => Notices.

I hope it will work for you. I will have to troubleshoot my installation :(.
