Registry issues with MapPoint 2002

I had installed and used MapPoint 2002 for several months. Then yesterday when I tried to launch the program, I received a pop-up window that said the registry files hadn't been copied right and to run Setup from the same location. I tried that, it didn't work; got the same message. I uninstalled the whole program and then reinstalled it from scratch -- still the same message. What is my problem and what can I do to fix it?

Elaine,

First I would say make sure you back up any important files on this computer. For the registry problem you describe to crop up out of nowhere is a little strange and who knows...

Did you install all files (so that you don't need the CD in?)

One thing you can try is uninstall again, reboot, search thru the registry for mappoint entries. Something must be getting left in the registry based on what you have described.

John, thanks for your input. Actually, that is what I did. I felt that some little thing was probably still there, and I may have overlooked it when viewing the Registry entries, but I couldn't find anything after I had uninstalled the program. Granted I'm not experienced enough to know if there is a "hidden" or obtuse entry that isn't easily recognizable as a MapPoint entry. I also tried System Restore but it still doesn't work.
