View Full Version : Maintenance - ISP Changing Servers

Our ISP is changing servers and a few posts could be lost today.

There may be a twenty minutes or an hour between when the database is copied over and the name server change takes effect.

Essentially it will look like the forum database "rolled back" to it's previous state an hour earlier.

If you notice this, let me know and I should be able to retrieve your post if it was something you don't want to be lost!

Otherwise just post your question or answer again.

We appreciate your patience, hopefully this will go smoothly!

The copy over is in progress so it's likely this particular post will disappear - not be copied over to the new server!

I've save the most recent posts (from the last hour) so I can restore those manually.

I'll switch the DNS shortly!

I monitored this pretty closely and it looks like it went very smoothly -- no posts lost -- except for the one above which I manually copied over!

For good measure I shut down the instance of mapforums.com running on the old server in case anyone has the DNS cached, they cannot post to the old site.

Let me know if you lost anything (I didn't check the blogs), there was only about 20 minutes from when they started copying it over and I shut down the forum on the old site.
