Store Locator based on SQL Database

Can anyone please point me to a tutorial explaining how to create a store locator with VE 6.2 when the location information is residing on a SQL 2005 server?

I'd like to return the list of locations from my server via a Web Service and then have VE pick the X closest locations to the address entered by the user. Is this even possible? Thanks!

Re: Store Locator based on SQL Database

Hi,

That sounds close to what I am trying to achieve.

I think that the FindNearby function is the way to go and use a custom data source.

I am trying to find an example of the file format that needs to be uploaded to the webservices control panel.

In your case, I believe, it maybe possible to use the API to upload your database content to the datasource at certain time intervals?

How far have you got with this?

Anything you have found out may help me?

Thanks in advance
