Hi.

I'm writing an application that read data from GPS, locate me on the map and show me the current street.

The problem is that I don't need the street name with the number, but only the street name. Furthermore the street name is different from country to country (in USA is "123 5th St.", in Italy is "Via Roma 54") therefore is difficult to extrat only the street name ("5th St.", "Via Roma").

Any suggestion ?

I think you do need to do the parsing yourself, MapPoint is not going to help with this. Because the parsing can be someone complicated, I would recommend using pre-built solution, for instance search address parsing - Google Search

( The name ParseRat came to mind but that seems to be another product ? )

Ideally this would be a dll you can call and be returned the address components.

For other countries you would probably need a different dll or parsing routine and possibly have to make your own.

Hi,

As far as I know in Europe all streets has names (no things as 5th street or so). So you can make a separate europe / usa version.
