Hi everybody, first of all sorry if I will make a question already mentioned in the forum but when I have tried the "search" option I've got back 1010 results and I really need urgent help before my boss kills me.

I have always used Mappoint 2004 in a smooth way but today for the first time when I have tried to import Excel data I have got:
"There was a problem to open your file "filename".xls"

I have not changed anything an my machine. I checked the file and it is ok.

I have opened an old map trying to import an old file that was working but gott same problem as well if I try to import files with other extensions.

Tried to reinstall software 4 times cleaning up registry, no way.

Look up in Microsoft support and only thing found was to download MDAC 2.8 but installation was stopped as "all elements are already present on your computer".

I don't really know what to do. You're my last hope before I start colouring paper maps with crayons...

Hi Chiara,

Try to install Mappoint in another computer if you can and retry what your
are doing.
