Does anyone know if MapPoint will have TOPO information available anytime soon. I need to show elevation along with my route. Since they don't have it now, is it possible to get it from any other resource and overlay it against MapPoint data ?

Sounds like a good idea. I do have a huge dataset of elevation data, I could make a tool which connect both.

I wrote a COM add-in that downloads topo or aerial images form Terreservice.net and places them into MapPoint as custom pushpins. I haven't got it working perfectly yet but if your interested I'll post a link later.

This is a function I've been thinking about how to implement for quite a while.
My thoughts were importing DEM data (from USGS) as some sort of custom regions.
(all the areas with a given elevation would be in a region.)
I've gotten as far as figuring out how to parse the DEM. (But haven't written the code for it.)
My goal was to be able to make a route, and then do a elevation guide to it. (i.e. contour map).
As I was training for the Seattle marathon last year, I was using Mappoint as my tool to track routes and distances. I had wanted to put a contour map in so I would know how big a hill really was. (when you are a runner of my caliber, every hill feels like Mt. Rainer!)
Is there a way to import a Digital Raster Graphics (DRG) of a USGS Topo?
I really need some way to show relief in my MP2K maps -
Could I import a shape file of the topo?
