| Tracking the Abominable Snowman with Virtual Earth Well folks, I have reported on the use of Virtual Earth for tracking assets, offenders, and even teenagers and errant spouses through GPS devices for vehicles but this takes the cake.* Lisa Usitalo, Virtual Earth Platform Marketing Manager on our commercial team, reports that Virtual Earth is now being used to track the Yeti, otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman. Lisa reports: There’s a new show on the SciFi channel:* Destination Truth.* Pretty cool show that explores fact/fiction.* One of the first broadcasts was Wednesday night.* If you saw it, you saw Virtual Earth all over it! The episode is posted online here: http://video.scifi.com/player/?id=225555; and it will air again Friday, Sunday and Monday. Virtual Earth appears in minutes: 1:35-1:39, 3:29-3:41, 3:46-3:55, 4:06-4:10, 4:56-5:00, 5:49-5:52, 15:50-15:53 and 24:54-24:56. Here they’ve overlaid reported yeti sightings and their search zone on VE (minutes 38:31-38:22 at the online link above): This is the start of the 3D Tour (minutes 38:12-38:06): And, in case viewers somehow missed attributions in the lower left corner while Virtual Earth was being used, they also acknowledged Virtual Earth in the end of show credits: Well ... I, for one, am glad to see Virtual Earth going head to head with the competitor and the UFO tracking mash-ups being created on their platform.* (I have to admit ... it was pretty cool seeing Virtual Earth used for this rather entertaining piece!)
