| Unable to get directions from locA to locB. I've been working with MapPoint ActiveX for 1-1/2 years, but suddenly got a strange message tonight. While running a replay calling up hundreds of addresses, for the thousand time (literally), I get this strange message: "Unable to get directions from locA to locB. One of the areas may not contain necessary connectors such as ferry routes or main roads. Move one or both of the stops, and try again. trace: at MapPoint.Route.Calculate()" I don't remember updating the MapPoint data recently. These trips have worked since January 7th, when the date the data was collected live. Should I re-install MapPoint to try and get rid of any updates which I may have unwittingly installed? Thanks. |

I use Mappoint Europe usually based on UK addresses. When I started planning routes programmatically I got the message you describe a lot. I was putting in a UK place name; Mappoint was finding a US/Canada place further up the found results list and using that (the application is regional but the atlas is semi-global). But could not of course find a road route..which is when this error message comes up. I just had to make the address references more specific - largely by including PostalCodes. Maybe some of your updates have added more locations outside continental NA with ambiguous names, in which case the findresults(placename).item(1) will select them? Maybe just making the addresses country specific will solve it. |

As John says, it happens when MapPoint cannot find a route between the locations listed. I've also seen it with farms when the farm road isn't properly included in the MapPoint database. (should it include all tracks? what if the data provider defines a part of a farm road as a track?) Richard
