| unexpected error;quitting I have a question - and I'm somewhat desperate: I programmed an ActiveX server Exe using the Mappoint control ( VB ) . If I start it as Administrator, there is no problem with it, but if I change to a user with restricted rights the error occurs and my application stops. The Mappoint control is within a usercontrol. I tried to put it on the form, but the same error occurs. I changed the rights for the User and the error still occurs. Can you help me? Greetings, Syd |

Hi Syd, I had a similar problem which I think you might benefit from! I too wrapped a Map control into a UserControl and distributed this with my application - a nice way of encapsulating just the features you need. Anyway, I installed MapPoint on all the client workstations where users have basic user rights (no admins or power users). I noticed that the map control errored the first time they ran my app. This problem didn't occur on my workstation where I am admin. I found that to fix this, simply start the full MS MapPoint app, closing it down again and then running up the application again seemed to do the job. I am guessing that it's a permissions issue on the registry - if you notice the first time you run MapPoint it asks you to accept a EULA - it must record the fact that you have accepted this in a registry value somewhere which normal users can't get to. I hope that's of some help. |

Thanks for your fast answer I'll try that - first problem is, that it is a Mappoint Runtime version that is installed on the workstations. Perhaps I must set the registry key then, because I there's no Eula dialog coming up. Now I'll try a vmware box and go checking. Bye for now Syddie |
