Updating Maps in Excel without Mappoint

I am wondering if it's possible to put a map into an Excel worksheet and have that map be updatable on a computer that doesn't have Mappoint. I'm mapping zip codes for a specific area and need to update the map daily. I was hoping that it may be possible to kind of import that section of the map into Excel and keep it there, but I doubt this is possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can use the ActiveX control in VBA in Excell and save the generated map as an image. This way it can be viewed on other machines. Note that the maximum amount of copies is limited according to the end user agreement.

Saving it as an image, means it wouldn't be updatable.

To use the ActiveX control, you need MapPoint installed.

The maps in MapPoint are big (an extra CD in addition to the main app), so even if Microsoft restrictions weren't a problem, the original question isn't feasible.

I've looked around and found something called Mappoint Control run-time License. It says it allows maps to be updated without having a full version of Mappoint on the computer. Anybody know anything more about this?

This is misleading.. it's a licensing arrrangement throught the ISV-R program but for all practical and logistical purposes you still need the full version installed on client computers.
