| Using ActivX and Mappoint in in the backgound same time I'm using Mappointcontrol in a formular to show positions of vehicles. At the left side of the form I want to list the vehicles and want to calculate the streets of the positions every 5 minutes. But for the reverse geocoding I don't want to use the ActivX in the foregroud. I would like to open MapPoint in the background and calculte it there while the ActivX can show the positions. Is there a way to tell MapPoint that I want to take the backgroud-version? I hope that you know what I meen because of my bad english. Ralle |

Hi Ralle, I dont know if an axtiveX component is thread safe. If it is not you can use the object model. Basically you create a thread and in thread context you create the mappoint application and do the calculations. When done you post a message to the main thread to do the GUI updates if nececary. Another way to do it is inter application. A second application (eg a windows service) can do the calculations. Both programs can talsk to each other trough a TCP session.
