using the mappoint 2006 map in excel

Hi;

I have been trying to find out if it can be done or not. I have data in excel on sheet 1. I link the data to my mappoint software and everything is plotted and works great. All of the balloons are active and correct. Now I want to import that map into excel on sheet 2 of my file. However, when I do it, I either get a bitmap of the map which is not interactive (when I click on a dealer, their address does not pop up in a balloon) or i copy and paste it and get a link page to my data. Is there any way to have my interactive map put into excel so when I send the file out other people can access it with the balloons?

Please help
Chris S.

You should be able to transfer it, if the recipient had MapPoint installed.
If not, then no - you'd have to transfer MapPoint's maps with the spreadsheet. That's somewhere in the region of a GB of data!

Re: using the mappoint 2006 map in excel

OK, so let me see if i got this right....If the person I send the file to has Mappoint installed, they can view the map and click on the links to read the balloons. If they do not have mappoint, they are out of luck using the map, correct? If this is correct, do you maybe have a suggestion for me how to use an interactive map?

What does "GB of data" mean???

Thanks for the help.

Yes.

You should be able to use the link. When you install MapPoint make sure you select the option that lets you use it in other office applications (this applies for the recipient as well).

"GB" = Gigabyte. The reason MapPoint takes 2 CDs (or 1 DVD) is because of all the map data.

Re: using the mappoint 2006 map in excel

the problem i have lies in the fact that I did not install this so I do not have the cd's. It was installed by my IT dept. so what they do is get the user license and send me a link to install it. I don't even have a manual. Basically I am usinig on the blind. Where can I select the option to have it used in other applications? Is this done when it is installed via the cd's?

Please advise.

Thanks for all of your help.
