We use MapPoint to display info within our supply chain optimization system, which is developed in Visual FoxPro. Our problem is that city or state names used by our users don't always match the spelling in the MapPoint database.

We would like to compare spellings BEFORE we map, as part of the data validation process of the system, so we can flag and correct discrepancies.

Is there a table within MapPoint we can access programatically that has location info (name, state, etc) ? We need such table to automate the validation.

Any suggestions?

I would just make a table in FoxPro.

There is no table in MapPoint that you can access listing all the place names... you might find some CASS correction software appropriate, a couple vendors you could try are GreatData and MelissaData.
