Virtual Earth and iPhone

Hi,
I want to write a new location-based application for the iPhone where I need to provide maps.

I would like to show Virtual Earth maps and I noticed Loopt for the iPhone does something very similar to what I need to do right on Virtual Earth.
Are they using some sort of Virtual Earth SDK for the iPhone?
Is it something available to everybody?

Thanks for any help on this
Marcello

Re: Virtual Earth and iPhone

The Loopt thing was a special arrangement to hit our tile servers directly. We are preparing to release version 1.0 of the Virtual Earth Web Services that will much easier enable developers to build VE applications for all mobile devices, including iPhone.

Stay tuned to Microsoft Virtual Earth for announcements on our VE Web Services here soon.

Re: Virtual Earth and iPhone

the Loopt application was something different. They went directly against our tile servers in building their client which is something we are strongly discouraging now and in fact with the VE web services you shouldn't need to do anymore.

We don't have any guidance on building iPhone applications per se but I know there are people in the VE community looking and working on it now and there should be some exmamples coming out over the next couple of months.

regards,
mark
